Can you believe it, we have been in business for over 25 years.
We first registered the business back in 1998 when we went from working on our friends’ cars as a hobby, then started doing it full time in our first unit in Crocker Drive Malaga in 2000. In 3 years we out grew that unit and moved into a much larger unit around the corner in Inverness Street. This enabled us to have a showroom and large fabrication workshop. In 2007 we had to restructured due to issues finding reliable staff in the middle of Perth’s mining boom. So, we consolidated the business back to working in a smaller shed and putting our parts and showroom online.
We relocated to Ballajura in 2008 and continue to serve the Off Road community of Western Australia with a wide variety of parts and accessories to fit your vintage VW, Beach Buggy, Dune Sand Rail, Baja and Off Road Racer. The world has evolved significantly and so has the way our customers shop. In order to serve our community, we closed our walk-in retail shop in 2013 and focus exclusively on our online store sales. In 2017 at the request of some of our former customers, we reopened our workshop to service and race prep their cars. We reopened to the public so to service, build, repair, fabricate and weld all in our one retail shop in Malaga, WA. However, in Oct 2023 we closed this shop down as the overheads and lease cost made our small family business unprofitable. Forcing us to increase our prices which didn’t sit well with us. So, we went back to what we know works best, and moved it all back to Ballajura. This move enabled us to keep our low prices and be able to serve our good customers better. While we no longer have a mechanical workshop available to the public, we still buy, sell and fabricate some of the best gear in Australia and around the world.
We are still Family-owned and operated and take great pride in our customers experience. Looking after our customers, is the reason for our success.

Idlewildoffroad.com is updated on a regular basis and we are still loading products. I've had the pleasure of dealing with Chris and the Team at Idlewild offroad on several occasions.
Living on the East Coast of Australia we don't have too many shops that can offer you a 1 stop shop and that's what I have found I can get at Idlewild Offroad.
From simple advice, to roll cage hoops, wheels, and General parts for my Off road VW buggy The guys here have always been able to help me on every occasion.
If what i wanted wasn't in stock, They would source it for me and get it sent out to me as quickly as they could.
I can't fault their Customer service, or the quality of their custom fabricated parts and I will continue to support their work by purchasing my parts through them.

Took to my car to Idlewild recently for general Servicing/ oil pressure fault finding. Found them to be extremely family friendly, very knowledgeable and repair cost was easy on the hip pocket . More than happy to go back and them again .. two thumbs up from me!
